ABOUT KRACA
If you’ve seen the movie Pitch Perfect, you’ll have an idea of what Acappella is—we make music without instruments, using only our voices. Founded more than two decades ago, KR Acappella takes pride in every song we present, be it old school classics, jazzy tunes or the pop hits of today.
In each acappella group of 5-6 singers, an individual often sings a distinctive part, yet focuses on achieving a cohesive sound as a group. Therein lies the need for pitching, blending and musicality. Nonetheless, do not let this deter you from auditioning as I can assure you that many of us started off as bathroom singers. There is something magical about creating the perfect harmony and blend, and we hope to share that with you.
Within KR itself, we were able to share our voices with our community of friends. Such performances included Camp Blue Blood (CBB), Freshman Welcome Orientation Camp (FWOC), Culture Night, and our very own Lobby Session. Annually, we also send teams to participate in Amplitude, a joint performance by the choir and acappella groups of the six halls in National University of Singapore (NUS). For external gigs, our highlights of the year are Christmas carolling and Voices—A Festival of Song (Esplanade’s annual acappella festival). Our team also takes part in the annual Singapore Acappella Championships, and performed the numbers that brought us 1st Runner-Up Place at the Singapore Acappella Championships 2015.
KR Acappella strives to provide an avenue where talented singers take pride in themselves by producing music solely using their vocals. We are constantly stretching the skills of our members, not only in terms of their vocal techniques but also as as charismatic performers.
Ultimately, we aspire to deliver professionalism in every single one of our performances, as an evidence of our commitment to be at the forefront of the local acappella scene.
